The iconic Santa Cruz grocery store Shopper’s Corner, founded in 1938, recently went solar to cut electricity costs and enhance its sustainability efforts.
Andre Beauregard, grandson of the founder, said the new 77KW system is expected to offset about 30% of the market’s energy use and pay for itself in six-and-a-half years.
Beauregard added, “Solar was an extension of going green. Old school hospitality and charm meets new school vision and technology. We plan to be around for the long haul and solar will help us in that pursuit.”
